“From a devoted catholic to an Adventist missionary through AWR” – Mussa

Thanks to God and the power of the Holy Spirit with the tireless and continuous efforts of our AWR missionaries, Mussa is now a baptized member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and is serving God in the area he is in as a missionary teacher. His greatest desire is for the whole world to know the amazing truth about Jesus Christ. And that the gospel commission is everyone’s business, in his own words, “God did not just call us to be passengers and expect the driver or the pilot to do all the hard work.” We all have a part to play in this great gospel commission. (Has granted permission to share his story)

There are moments or events in people’s entire lives that are so significant that they completely change their perspective or view of who God is. This is a story about how God changed someone through AWR.

Mussa was a devoted Roman catholic follower who was raised in a good Christian home. He served the church faithfully and was baptized into the faith in 2005, when he was just a boy doing year seven. In 2006, he joined the secondary school in his area and met several friends, most of whom were Seventh-day Adventists. One evening, he was asked to join them for bible studies, which led him into a deeper search for truth. Then, in 2009, when he was in form four of his studies, he was once again exposed to the full knowledge of the Seventh-day Adventists.

However, he was hesitant to join the church because of his background as a catholic and was somewhat afraid that he would be made fun of or ridiculed because of his catholic faith. But he promised the Lord that he would join the Adventist church if he got a chance to move away from his family. That chance came in 2011 when he was selected for further studies to join Forms Five and Six. He got rebaptized that same year and joined the Seventh-day Adventist church. He was so zealous about this newfound faith that he shared with so many of his friends back then and they too became Adventists even to this day.

In 2019, God in His wisdom, introduced Mussa to the AWR ministry. It was here that Mussa took the time to learn about how to reach people through the online training that the AWR organized on their social media platforms. Mussa recalls that his heart was touched and moved by the training and studies on each platform, he wished to learn more and know more about AWR and what it does. He says, thanks to God for the opportunity to know about AWR and how they operate, and even though he does not know a lot about AWR, he feels like he belongs to this family. Mussa’s message to those reading his story is that “we are all summoned into the church, not like passengers that we leave everything to a driver or pilot or captain. But each person is called to stand as a witness in this confused world just like how Noah stood firm in his day, and so should we.

For Mussa, AWR is a life-changing ministry. It gave him hope at the nick of time of disappointment when he went through bitter trials. There was a point in life when darkness filled his entire life. He felt as though there was no hope for him at all. Everything was topsy-turvy because everything he tried turned out to be unsuccessful. It reached a point where he thought God had forsaken him but through AWR his Hope was restored. He cannot exactly remember who the preacher was at the time, but he distinctly remembers that the topic was about trusting in Jesus, the only ultimate hope for the human race. The preacher used Jeremiah 29:11, and since then, this verse has been Mussa’s reference now and then especially when he is faced with hard times and it may seem as though there is no way out. He goes on to say that AWR gave him confidence in God and that he has not wavered at all in his faith because God has been his rock on which he stands.

Mussa now serves as a missionary teacher in his area and is learning and experiencing how God is leading souls through the little things that he does for the gospel commission. He says that every one of us has a duty to play in this great commission. Even the little things that you do for God matter in His eyes. You don’t really see how important the mission you are doing is. You are healing wounds, strengthening Faiths, restoring joy, reviving hope, and enlivening the feeble. Keep on doing what you are doing for God because He has prepared a place for you in heaven. You will be amazed to see a queue of people behind you.
